UGC NET Syllabus 2025 - The University Grants Commission prescribes the UGC NET syllabus 2025 for the June session. The UGC NET 2025 syllabus PDF can be downloaded at ugcnet.nta.ac.in. The UGC NET 2025 has 2 sections, paper 1 and paper 2. The UGC NET Paper 1 syllabus remains the same for all the candidates attempting the exam. However, the UGC NET paper 2 syllabus varies according to the field of study of aspirants and they can choose the subjects they want to appear for. There are a total of 85 subjects to choose from in Paper 2. Indian Knowledge System, Disaster Management System and Ayurveda Biology are the three subjects that have been newly added from previous session.

UGC NET Paper 1 is the same and mandatory for all candidates. Paper 2 is different for different subjects.
UGC NET Paper 1 will have a total of 50 multiple-choice questions.
Each question will carry 2 marks.
The UGC NET exam syllabus for Paper 1 covers 10 units.
5 questions will be asked from each unit (i.e. 10 units X 5 questions = 50 questions).
Subject: General Paper on Teaching & Research Aptitude
The UGC NET syllabus paper 1 tests the candidate’s teaching and research ability as well as the aptitude of the candidate. The UGC NET exam syllabus for Paper 1 is designed to test candidates’ cognitive abilities including comprehension, analysis, evaluation, understanding the structure of arguments, deductive and inductive reasoning.
The UGC NET syllabus 2025 also provides for testing candidates’ general awareness of teaching and learning processes in the higher education system. Further, the UGC NET syllabus assesses if the candidate is aware of the interaction between people, environment, natural resources and their impact on the quality of life.

UGC NET Paper 2 is based on the subject chosen by the candidate.
A total of 85 subjects are provided by NTA.
The candidate has to choose one subject from these 85 subjects.

It is important to carry all the documents that you have been told to bring on your exam day. Every piece of document in the exam hall matters. NTA guidelines on national level exams states that a candidate must have 2 passport size photographs that is there on their online application. This is solely because the purpose of identification of a candidate. One photograph will be pasted on attendance sheet. You need to carry what else is the guidelines to avoid any issue in exam hall.

If you have mistakenly clicked on the wrong gender, you need not to be worried. The NTA (National Testing Agency) conducts UGC-NET Exam twice a year- June and December cycle and always open a correction window for those candidates who have filled any of their details incorrectly. This correction window will give you a chance to correct your mistakes in the application form. But, it is very important to know that this correction window may be or may not be opened for a longer period of time. like for a week or so.

Yes, candidate who has completed their Master's from IGNOU can apply for UGC-NET. The eligibility criteria of appearing in UGC-NET Exam is to score an equivalent or more than 55% in their Master's CGPA.
UGC-NET Exam happens twice a year. The June cycle has been re-scheduled. The second cycle will take place in the month of December.
