    UGC NET Age Limit - National Testing Agency (NTA) has determined the age limit of UGC NET for all aspiring candidates. The UGC NET age limit has been determined on the basis of the categories of the candidates. It is important for the candidates to meet the age criteria before appearing for the UGC NET exam. Candidates meeting the age limit will only be able to fill the UGC NET application form. Before filling the form, candidates must go through the UGC NET eligibility criteria to know about the age limit in detail. As per UGC NET age limit, candidates must not be more than 30 years of age for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). However, there is no upper age limit of UGC NET determined for Assistant Professors. The authorities have also given certain age relaxations in the upper age limit for UGC NET for the reserved category candidates.     UGC NET exam is conducted to determine the eligibility of the candidates as Assistant Professors and to award JRF. The test is held twice a year - June and December. However, this year the UGC NET 2020 exam has been delayed due to COVID-19 outbreak and the new dates will be announced soon. Candidates can fill the application form till May 31. As per UGC NET exam pattern, the test will be held for two papers - paper I and II of 100 and 200 marks respectively. The test will be held at various UGC NET exam centres across the country.

    UGC NET Age Limit

    The authorities have determined the age limit of UGC NET for the following

    • Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)

    • Assistant Professors

    NTA UGC NET Age Limit For JRF

    As per the age limit of UGC NET, a candidate must not be more than 30 years of age as on June 1, 2020. It is important for the candidates appearing for the JRF to have met the age criteria. Not meeting the UGC NET age limit might cancel the candidature at a later stage.

    Age Limit of UGC NET For Assistant Professors

    There is no upper age limit determined by the authorities for candidates appearing for Assistant Professors. Candidates of any age limit can appear for the test.

    UGC NET Age Relaxation

    The authorities have given certain age relationships in the upper age limit of the candidates belonging to the reserved categories. The reserved categories include Scheduled caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe )ST), Physically Weaker Division (PWD), and Transgenders. Along with them, the age relaxation will also be given to candidates pursuing L.L.M degree, Research candidates (only on producing the certificate issued by appropriate authority), and Ex-Armyman.     No, you must have a master’s degree from the recognized university.

    Q: How many attempts are there for appearing in the UGC NET?
    A:

    No such limit has been determined on the basis of the number of attempts made for the UGC NET. However, for JRF you can appear only till 30 years of age. No age limit for those appearing for Assistant Professors.

    Q: For how long is the UGC NET score for JRF valid?

    The scores for JRF will be valid for three years from the date of the issuance of the eligibility certificate.
