SSC CGL Selection Process - Tier 1

Candidates who have successfully filled the SSC CGL 2026 application form will be called for the tier 1 exam of the selection process. The SSC CGL 2026 tier 1 exam will have 100 questions of 200 marks. As per the SSC CGL exam pattern 2026, candidates will be awarded 2 marks for every correct answer and a 0.50 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer.

The questions in the SSC CGL tier 1 exam 2026 will be asked from English Language, General Awareness, General Intelligence and reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude. Candidates who qualify the CGL tier 1 will be called for the SSC CGL tier 2 exam. SSC CGL Selection Process - Tier 2

Candidates who qualify the SSC CGL 2026 tier 1 exam will be eligible to appear for the tier 2 and 3 exam of the recruitment process. The SSC CGL 2026 tier 2 exam will also be conducted in online mode. The Tier II (Paper-I, Paper-II, and Paper-III) will consist of Objective Type, Multiple choice questions, except for Module-II of Section-III of Paper-I.

The questions will be set both in English & Hindi except for English Language And Comprehension module in Section II of Paper-I. There will be a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer in Section-I, Section-II and Module-I of Section-III of Paper-I and of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-II and Paper-III. • Tier II has three papers Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III that will be conducted in separate shifts, days.

• Paper-I is compulsory for all the posts, it has three sections.

• In SSC CGL tier-II exam, all the candidates will be required to appear in all three sections of Paper-I

• Based on the aggregate performance in Section-I and Section-II of Paper-I, candidates will be shortlisted for evaluation of Section III of Paper-I.

• Candidates who are not qualified in Section-I + Section-II will not be eligible for evaluation of Section-III and they
  will not be considered for the further selection process.

• Qualified candidates Section I and Section II are required to appear for Section III i.e. Computer Knowledge Test and Data Entry Speed Test (DEST).

• Paper-II will be for only those candidates who apply for the posts of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and who are shortlisted in Tier-I for these Posts.

• Paper-III will be for only those candidates who are shortlisted in Tier-I for Paper-III i.e. for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer.

SSC CGL Selection Process 2026 - Document Verification

Candidates who qualify in Tier 1 and 2 will be required to appear for Document Verification (DV) along with the photocopies and original documents. While appearing for the Document Verification, Candidates have to bring two passport size recent colour photographs and one original Photo ID Proof like Aadhaar Card/ Printout of E-Aadhaar, Voter’s ID Card, Driving License, PAN Card, Passport, ID Card issued by University/ College/ School, Employer ID Card (Govt./ PSU), Ex-Serviceman Discharge Book issued by Ministry of Defence, Any other photo bearing ID Card issued by the Central/ State Government.

Candidates have to select their preference for various posts and departments through the Online Option Form on the website of the Commission before the declaration of SSC CGL final result. If candidates fail to select their preference for various posts, they will not be considered for a Post and Ministry/Department/ Organization. If options once submitted successfully shall be treated as final and will not be changed subsequently under any circumstances.
