UPSC CAPF Paper 1 has a negative marking. As a negative marking, for each wrong answer 1/3rd (0.33) marks will be deducted.
If a candidate attempts more than one answer, it will be treated as wrong, and negative marks will be deducted for it.
If no answer is marked and the question is left blank then there will be no deductions.
Paper 2 is descriptive and there is no negative marking for it.

UPSC CAPF Selection Procedure 2025
The selection procedure of the UPSC CAPF exam is as follows:
Stage 1 - Written Examination
Stage 2 - Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests
Stage 3 - Interview/Personality Test
Stage 4 - Final Selection / Merit
The written examination comprises two papers. Paper-I and Paper-II. Paper I has questions from General Ability and Intelligence and consists of 250 marks. The questions in this paper will be Objective (Multiple Choice) which will be set in English as well as Hindi.
Paper-II on the other hand will have questions from General Studies, CAPF Maths syllabus, Essay and Comprehension and will consist of 200 Marks. In this paper will be allowed the option of writing the Essay in English or Hindi, but the medium of Precis Writing, Comprehension Components and other communications/ language skills will be English only.
